Inquiry:  What universal-human-need did you most attend to in the year past (whether subconsciously or more deliberately)?

Hint:  Try reviewing an NVC Needs List (see beneath) to see if any one jumps out at you.

Your NVC Year 2016 in Review

  • What were your most notable learning-edges of 2016?
  • What were some of your challenges, as a practitioner, this past year?
  • How did you ritualize your NVC practice? (e.g. SCPBreath, Body, Inquiry)
  • What worked?  How did you grow and individuate?
  • What didn’t work?  How might you do things differently in the future?
  • What were the lessons you learned?
  • Identify a thematic influence (read, value/universal-human-need) for the year past.
  • How did the year pan out with regard to this theme?
  • Any inkling as to a possible theme (value/need) &/or ritual to focus on for 2017?

As I indicated above, one of my most formative needs, and not just in this past year, has been that of ‘shared reality’ (an affinity which likely has deep psychoanalytic roots and will no doubt continue as a dominant theme well into the foreseeable future); likely much of my preoccupation resides far beyond the merely familiar realm, the personal-being-political (as it is often put)…

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light…

FYI ~ A bit of a retrospective as to how this need for ‘shared reality’ panned out, in this year past:

The North Pole is an insane 36 degrees warmer … – Washington Post

 – November 17
Political people in the United States are watching the chaos in Washington in the moment. But some people in the science community are watching the chaos somewhere else — the Arctic. It’s polar night there now — the sun isn’t rising in much of the Arctic. That’s when the Arctic is supposed to get super-cold, when the sea ice that covers the vast Arctic Ocean is supposed to grow and thicken. But in fall of 2016 — which has been a zany year for the region, with multiple records set for low levels of monthly sea ice — something is totally off. The Arctic is super-hot, even as a vast area of cold polar air has been displaced over Siberia… (continues)

Newsweek:  NASA’s Climate Research Will Likely be Scrapped by Trump

By  on 11/27/16

Donald Trump is poised to eliminate all climate change research conducted by NASA as part of a crackdown on “politicized science,” his senior adviser on issues relating to the space agency has said.

Nasa’s Earth science division is set to be stripped of funding in favor of exploration of deep space, with the president-elect having set a goal during the campaign to explore the entire solar system by the end of the century.

Dylan Thomas reads “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”

Do not go gentle into that good night

Dylan Thomas, 19141953

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
